Gus the stove and kettlemaker
This is for week 2 of my character design class. I had to design a fantasy character using a list of descriptive words. I picked middle-aged, bored, assembly, brute, and aqua. Behold Gus: the brutish middle aged stove and kettle assembly-fish-man. I guess assembling stoves is not an exciting life. This was done quickly as I have spent the better part of the last 48 hours trying (and epically failing) to build a generic character mesh. I hope I will have more time to develop this idea, but I will probably be begging for help with modeling the generic mesh.

Character Design Week 1
I'm finally back at school. This semester consists of even more figure drawing (can't get enough of that,) and a character design course. I'm a little tentative about the 3D modeling portion of the course because I'm not a modeler. I'll get by though. So here are some concepts. I might scrap these and start again. I think they could be better. Much...better.

This is a departure from my usual post, but...I felt that this was post worthy. I highly suggest you all check out this you tube channel. It's got a ton of great videos about life drawing. These are so great, I put them on my ipod so I could watch them as much as I want, anywhere. The stuff I got out of these videos have influenced my work over the past few months. Go check them out.
Copy and past this address into your browser, and it should get you there.

LA Misadventure #1
I'm back from LA. Siggraph was fantastic, and I got a lot out of it. In addition to touring studios, and talking with people in the biz I also took a crack at sushi for the first time. I am convinced that sushi is Japanese for "gastro intestinal mayhem." The first roll was good, but once I got to the California roll I was done. The edamame was good though.
Anyhoo, our waitress was quite a character. She was covered in ink, and I just had to sketch her.
