Still here

Because I haven't posted anything in almost 2 months, I decided to throw this up. Probably won't have anything too mind blowing until after April. I just completed a major deadline, but there are 2 more left before I get to work on anything else.

I usually see this guy out walking his dog on my way home. I've been itching to sketch him for a while, but I get preoccupied with other things.

Just my pencils. I'm trying out a new process and trying to get my "digital miles" in. I will be painting this. I had a critique in which I was told I need more finished work and more characters interacting in an environment.

I did this a few years back. Sometimes I shock myself, while there are errors with this drawing, it still is a nice piece.

Gesture Drawing Site

I'm a big advocate of gesture drawing. I believe that drawing from life is the best way to really learn how to draw, and so I get out as much as I can. I've sketched at restaurants, school, plays, festivals, and even on dates. Sadly, I'm not always able to make it out of the studio. Recently I discovered a website that offered me a solution. This site offers free (that's right, I said FREE) gesture drawing sessions. You can pick between people and animals, and how long the pose is held for. I still prefer sketching people out and about, but this site is nice.
